TRES Records x P.Locke x G.S. x Dilla/Ma Dukes

A while back was the Dilla walk in Santa Monica.

Wasn’t able to make it on time, but we put in some miles on our own and still showed love.

Check the official Ma Dukes website for the footage.

Any time I see a sign that says, “free (insert word here),” I have to stop and try to see what I can pick up.  Today i came across a bunch of goodies: some books to add on to the list of “books i have to finish reading,” a bunch of CD’s/DVD’s (some that i’ll probably try to sell to Amoeba), a bucket, car cleaning products, shot glasses, a Toyota Matrix shirt, and Zune covers that I can hopefully sell on craigslist or something.

Anyways…some of the stuff is pictured up above (also picked up an up above records cd/dvd combo thing).  Enjoy the pictures, and never pass up an opportunity on free products, cause you’ll never know what you can find.

speaking of free, be ready to get some free music from us soon.

100+ downloads for Growth Series #1!

Photobucket

We have finally reached over 100 downloads for our first EP and musical project as The Late Bloomers.  It took 5 months but at least we’re still getting hits.

For an album that took about a month to put together…..it came out pretty good.  Ever since then, we’ve been perfecting our skills and discovering better techniques, so I can guarantee you 100%, that whatever we put out will be better than the next ( I know the bars not that high but you know what i mean.)

To those who read the blog, listen to our music, and anyone who supports what we do, thank you.  We do this music cause it feels good to us, but knowing that other people are actually feelin’ it too, pushes us even more.

So again, thanks for the support and stay tuned, cause we have much more in store for all of you.

-Bloomers.

Today was quite a long day. Said goodbye to my trike and hello to Randy (could have said goodnight to him too since i was digging at his place till 1am).

For those who don’t know who Randy is……good, just check the pictures.

Got some goodies by the end of the day…..new Big Tone 7 inch thanks to Tres, and a bunch of other 45’s, LP’s and 12’s thanks to Randy.

Since I myself produce, I try not to search for the original samples of other artists too much, but i do come across them.  Found some Quas, Exile, 9th, and some others that i seemed to have forgotten already.

I found a great filipino funk/soul record…..yes…..filipinos do have soul. And i also found more Mr.Rogers records, which i feel is the reason why i love vinyl so much.  My dad used to take me to the library to check out Mr. Roger records when i was little and i’ve never really stopped buying them ever since.

Anyways, enjoy the pictures…

Q

Thanks to the internet and sites such as youtube, we can watch pretty much anything we wish to see….usually we spend time watching some japanese game show, or a kid tripping out after the dentist….

But sometimes there’s something really worth watching…..at least for me. And this time, it comes in 5 parts (mixed it with some other versions due to edits).  The only time i’ve heard him speak was at a Herbie Hancock tribute show, which i really don’t remember because it was about the music that night….but now i can watch/listen to Mr. Quincy Jones speak in the comfort of my own home.

From stealing guns, to working with Michael, Quincy talks about it all.  Pretty inspiring. If you have the time and an open ear to watch em all, i highly suggest it.

“Food and water would feed my body, but music would nourish my mind and my soul.”
